Varèse edita la música del videojuego "Torn" de Garry Schyman

Varèse Sarabande will release the TORN – Original Video Game Soundtrack on August 31, 2018. The TORN game is to be released on PLAYSTATION and is available on August 28th. This is a soundtrack for the new and emerging realm of VR Video Games.
"TORN is one of the most interesting projects I have ever scored and it inspired me to create something I feel is very special musically.” Said composer Garry Schyman. “This virtual reality game is like entering and being part of a fascinating dark mysterious film.”
TORN is a dark science-fiction mystery. Deep in a forgotten forest, video blogger Katherine Patterson discovers an abandoned mansion, filled with strange machines and disturbing experiments. This is the home of Dr. Lawrence Talbot, who was reported missing more than 64 years ago. Patterson realizes this could be worth millions, the story of her career. But when she meets Dr. Talbot in person -- alive, trapped in a strange new dimension, and missing his body -- Patterson realizes she was wrong. This is the story of a lifetime.
Composer Garry Schyman’s award-winning music spans nearly every audio-visual media, including feature films, prime-time television, and video games. His uniquely haunting orchestral scores for the globally acclaimed video games BIOSHOCKBIOSHOCK 2, andBIOSHOCK INFINITE have earned him multiple awards, including top honors for Best Original Score from the British Academy of Film & Television (BAFTA) and the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, establishing him as one of the world’s most celebrated composers of video game music.
Schyman is notable for his versatility of style and unique ability to fluidly draw from multiple eclectic sources of inspiration. He captured the fantasy world of Tolkien for the adventure game MIDDLE-EARTH: SHADOW OF MORDOR (nominated for a BAFTA award) andMIDDLE-EARTH: SHADOW OF WAR and paid playful homage to ’50s sci-fi with his score for the 2005 game DESTROY ALL HUMANS! (followed by two sequels). He accelerated heartbeats with his thunderous orchestral scores in action games like RESISTANCE: RETRIBUTION and DANTE’S INFERNO, and gave a nod to the hypnotic style of Bernard Herrmann in the mystery game Voyeur. His film and television credits span every genre, including classic series like THE A-TEAM and MAGNUM, P.I., stormy action (TORNADO!), thrillers (HORSEPLAYER, starring Brad Dourif), and family horror (SPOOKY HOUSE, starring Ben Kingsley). Whatever genre he is writing in, Schyman’s music magnifies the mood or emotion of a scene with compelling melodies, evocative harmonies, and intricate arrangements.

TORN opens as a narrative puzzle game, then evolves into a dark, character-driven story as you slowly uncover the truth about Talbot, and the new dimension he calls “The Parallel.” Remember everything you see, for in Talbot’s world, truth is nothing more than the invention of the mind.
“The music, performed by some of the best players in LA at my favorite recording studio Fox’s Newman Scoring Stage, sounded so lovely and I could not be more pleased with these recordings." Said composer Garry Schyman.
Varèse Sarabande will release the TORN – Original Video Game Soundtrack on August 31, 2018. The TORN game is to be released on PLAYSTATION and is available on August 28th.

Novedades en vinilo de Varèse Sarabande

Varèse Sarabande is releasing three exciting LP packages, exclusive to Barnes & Noble, on July, 13 2018: ROAD HOUSE, released for the first time in three decades, on limited “Double Deuce” Neon Vinyl, a supernatural blue/black swirl vinyl for HELLBOY, and the red vinyl edition ofPEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE with a bonus second soundtrack of BACK TO SCHOOL.

The popularity of ROAD HOUSE, the 1989 action film starring Patrick Swayze, has remained consistent for almost 30 years. The music was a centerpiece for the film, with the house band, The Jeff Healey Band, performing new material produced by Jimmy Iovine. In ROAD HOUSEDalton (Swayze) is a true gentleman with a degree in philosophy from NYU. He also has a flip side - he's the best bar bouncer in the business. When Dalton's brought in to clean up the Double Deuce, a popular establishment that become particularly rowdy, his calm is put to the test by the town bully.  All four of The Jeff Healey Band songs are on this soundtrack along with cuts from Otis Redding, Little Feat and Bob Seger, plus two tracks performed Patrick Swayze. Many of these songs are exclusive to the soundtrack.

HELLBOY is based on Mike Mignola's acclaimed comic book series about a creature from Hades who joins the battle against evil, arrived on the screen in vivid form in this adaptation directed by distinctive horror filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.  The film features an exciting score by composer Marco Beltrami (LOGAN. A QUIET PLACE). A young demon is summoned from the depth of Hell to be used as the ultimate Axis weapon in the 1940’s. However, the demonic creature is captured by American forces, and put in the care of Professor Broom (John Hurt), the founder of a top-secret organization called the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. Sixty years later, the demon, now known as HELLBOY (Ron Perlman), is part of an elite secret defense team alongside Liz Sherman (Selma Blair), a beautiful pyrokinetic, and Abe Sapian (Doug Jones), an aquatic humanoid with the power of telepathy.

PEE WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE follows Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens) who lives an idyllic life in his bizarre home, until someone steal his the most important thing in his world: a fire engine-red customized bicycle. Pee-wee starts a epic cross-country search to rescue his lost love. The film featured a quirky original score by Danny Elfman.  As a special bonus, this release is a two-fer, with Elfman’s score for the Rodney Dangerfield film BACK TO SCHOOL, both presented on red vinyl.

Varèse edita el día 27 "Jim Henson’s The Storyteller" de Rachel Portman

Varèse Sarabande will release a limited-edition box set of music from JIM HENSON’S THE STORYTELLER on April 27, 2018.  The 3-CD set, which is available for pre-orders beginning April 13, features original music composed by Academy Award® winning composer Rachel Portman (EMMA, CHOCOLAT), available for the first time ever.

The release contains music from JIM HENSON’S THE STORYTELLER and its spinoff series, JIM HENSON’S THE STORYTELLER: GREEK MYTHS, a 32-page booklet of exclusive interviews with the producers of the series and Portman herself, and a collection of behind-the-scenes photographs.

Currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Emmy® and BAFTA TV Craft award-winning JIM HENSON’S THE STORYTELLERanthology series features both human actors and creations from Jim Henson's Creature Shop in this retelling of classic folk tales, fables, and legends. The series starred John Hurt in the title role. Aided by his cynical dog (performed by Brian Henson), Hurt narrates fascinating tales that combine humor, intrigue, and magic.

The series was the brainchild of Jim Henson’s eldest daughter, Lisa Henson, CEO of The Jim Henson Company.  Lisa, whomajored in folklore and mythology at Harvard, suggested they create an anthology series based on these stories.

Composer Rachel Portman had been writing music professionally for only a few years when brought on by director Steve Barron to work on the pilot.  “Steve and I talked about each film having a special sound and a special voice, and some special instrument that would be part of it. I chose very carefully a different coloration for each story, what the main instrument was going to be—because I wasn’t able to have very many instruments, and I wanted it to be orchestral,” Portman described.

Brian Henson, who was also the series head puppeteer and is currently chairman of The Jim Henson Companyhad nothing but praise for the music. “Rachel Portman gives it a timelessness. She makes the show important,” he said.  “She makes the stories important. There’s a gravitas that comes with her music, but then also the light, lyrical melody. I think it’s just beautiful scoring of fantasy.”

“I felt I had real freedom to go as dark as I wanted, musically,” explained Portman. “I didn’t shy away from being really sad, or really dark, or really happy. I think that really matched the way the whole series was done, and the scripts. It always kind of ends in minor. I don’t know why. They all come back to a sad chord at the end.”

JIM HENSON’s THE STORYTELLER is currently streaming via the STARZ app. As a special treat, Fathom Events is hosting screenings of JIM HENSON’S LABYRINTH in select theaters April 29, May 1&2 (https://www.fathomevents.com/events/labyrinth). The event will include a special theatrical screening excerpt from THE STORYTELLER.

Varèse Sarabande will release JIM HENSON’S THE STORYTELLER on April 27, 2018, available for pre-order beginning on April 13.
